Gary loads, aims, and fires the tranquilizer round. Action roll! Iu5Xt88G
3 + Action roll 6 = 9!...Success!
The dart meant for elephants managing to pierce into the hide of the dinosaur's flank. While it will take times for the animal to go to sleep, the effect it has on the Stegosaurus' balance is pretty obvious. It stumbles and flails about almost looking like it's drunk. Gary now has 9 darts left.
Bill pulls back his boot and tries to kick the dinosaur away. Action roll! 3 + Action roll 6 - 1 point for injury = 8!...Success!
With good aim and a thankfully thick boot, Bill manages to punt the small dinosaur away. While he doesn't manage to greatly wound it, as it gets back up soon after, the jolt causes it to snarl as the rest of the pack closes in after a momentary pause.
As this happens, Randy successfully pulls Bill out of harm's way from the reactive Stegosaurus' swinging tail, even as the log comes loose and crashes against the trunk of a nearby tree in a shower of splinters. As he moving back he stumbles briefly and drops Levine's bag, but it's quickly picked up and in the melee he doesn't realize a weight shift. In it's flailing, the Stegosaurus aims low on accident while turning and slams it's tail into the lead small dinosaur which had tried to take a chunk out of Bill's leg. The sheer force kills it instantly and flings it into the creek bed. The Stegosaurus ambles off, delirious and confident the infant had gotten away. The smaller dinosaurs scamper over to the body of their fallen and react as carnivores do, scavenging the flesh.
Gary, do you A. Try to shout and scare off the rest of the small dinosaurs? (Action roll) B. Sneak around them to join Bill and Randy? (Stealth roll) C. Wise crack while doing A or B.
Bill, do you A. Try to use your field guide to ID the species while they're distracted? (skill roll) B. Check Dr. Levine's notebook to see if you find anything? C. Wise crack while doing A or B.
Randy, do you A. Throw a flare to scare off the rest of the small dinosaurs? (Action roll) B. Finish pulling Bill up the hill? C. Wise crack while doing A or B.

Randy successfully pulled his expedition teammate up and far from danger, helping to slump him against a tree as he flagged down Gary from their cover.
"Lovely time to visit the f***ing tropics, slightly less worse than Bermuda...", Bill grunted while feeling the pain in his leg. While waiting, Bill thumbed through Dr. Levine's book and notices something. A inked left thumb print on one of the first few pages, dated to a few months ago. It's the same ink as the writing so it's no doubt Levine's, probably a writing accident. However as he flips to the torn out portion, he notices a smudge on the corner. It's another left thumb print, but it's much wider and the pattern seems different but it's close and might just be the mud. Eyeballing it he can't be sure, but it looks like someone else handled the book but you can't be sure of when.
Gary shook his head as he watched the increasingly delirious Stegosaurus amble off, smashing into more than one tree as it left. "Some rural restructure project you got there."
Turning back to his comrades, Gary eyed the small dinosaurs and planned out a path to get around them by moving through the dry spots in the creek to avoid splashes. Stealth Roll! koCzphlk
4+ Stealth roll 4 = 8!... Success!
Staying downwind of them, Gary sneaks across the creek and onto the side Randy and Bill were on, rejoining them. With the pack of dinosaurs behind you all and oblivious, time to draw up a decision.
Randy, do you A. Use your medical kit to patch up Bill's leg (remove 1 injury) and remain to look for Levine? B. Suggest returning to the trailers base to patch him up there?
Bill, do you A. Take the thumb print evidence as a sign Levine is close and the second print is his? B. Take the thumb print evidence as a sign someone else seemed to have found the bag and go to the trailers to call Hammond?
Gary, do you A. Use your binoculars to scout out from your high vantage point to have a look around? (Skill roll) B. Suggest abandoning the search for Levine here in light of the fauna and return to the trailers?

(Just so you know, if you got a line or action you'd like to write out with your choice, you're welcome too ) "Something's wrong," Bill grunted as he pointed between the fingerprints to Randy and Gary; "Levine's hand way back when, then someone else's. And look, pages torn out too." Randy furrowed his brow, "And the missing pages are when Hammond said he should have made it here. Everyone from the moment he must have set foot on Sorna 'till you picking this up is gone... Oof, man we better get you patched up, before it draws in more scavengers." Randy winced, looking at the stab wound. No doubt endorphins and adrenaline were why Bill wasn't feeling it much. Bill nodded, "Best call Hammond up and see what he makes of this book fiasco." "Hang on a sec'," Gary muttered as he pulled out his binoculars and took advantage of their high height. Skill roll! N0Qcb0Jt2 + skill roll 2 = 4!... Partial success! Using the view scopes, Gary surveyed the area and noticed a few oddities, even if he couldn't make out anything exact. There was what looked like a torn piece of cloth or rope hanging off a high branch in a tree that had marked bark down the truck that seemed to indicate someone had climbed up it. There was also a near unmistakable dent in the bark that looked fresh and caved in to revel brighter wood. A gunshot hole. "Rifle mark, second tree to that left side of the creek." Bill furrowed his brow at what Gary was saying, "Levine couldn't shoot to save his life. Hammond didn't say he even carried a gun on him." Gary sighed, "Okay now we have a problem." ============== The group made their way back to the trailers, Randy and Gary managing to patch up Bill's leg (Leg wound healed! Rolls are back to normal). However as Bill, the most tech savvy, works at the radio to try and call Sarah Harding's mainland team or Hammond, Levine's back creeks and moves on it's own. There's a chirping sound from within before a small creature pops out of it. It's different color than the ones from the creek, though similar in body, definitely a theropod of some sort. It doesn't make any attack, just hopping out onto the countertop and looking about curiously. Bill, do you A. Try to call up Sarah Harding's team on the mainland? (Skill roll+1) B. Try to call up John Hammond at InGen HQ? (Skill roll+1) C. Abandon the radio and help your comrades? (+1 to any of their rolls) Gary, do you A. Use tranquilizer rifle (9 shots) on the creature? (action roll) B. Attempt to grab a jacket and throw it over the creature? (action roll) C. Sneak up behind the creature and grab it? (stealth roll) Randy, do you A. Use your paleontology knowledge to identify the species? (skill roll+2, possible objective cleared) B. Open a window and try to coax it outside? (stealth roll) C. Use your radio to try Bill's A or B options if he chooses not to? (skill roll)

Tarb, is it possible to wait until someone identifies the creature before i make my choice?
I might try B and i want V to back me up here, or call Harding's team.

Tarb, is it possible to wait until someone identifies the creature before i make my choice? I might try B and i want V to back me up here, or call Harding's team. I will grant it. Randy looked at the creature, mentally cross referencing its features to decide just what it was he was looking at. Skill roll! IKkNubBN4 + Skill roll 4 + 2 Paleontology role perk = 10!... Complete success! " Procompsognathus triassicus," he mutters. "Small carnivore, likely scavenger but given what happened at the river, an opportunist kind of like foxes of jackals. The one that tried to bite Bill had something dripping from it's mouth, likely venom. I think Dr. Malcom mentioned someone feeling dizzy after getting nipped on Isla Nublar. Nothing serious so venom is probably mild unless already very weak. Besides, we're way too big for it to see as prey when healthy. Just be careful though." "Doesn't see too scared for not seeing food," Gary muttered as he tried to think of what to do. Randy nodded, "This is probably a young one, based off size and color. Born after the dinosaur got free so it's probably never even seen a human before." 2/3 Objectives for chapter 1 complete!: Catelog a large herbivore ( Stegosaurus) and small carnivore ( Procompsognathus============== Tem, do you change your decision?

Gary, seeing a jacket nearby, grabs it and gets an idea. Creeping up beside the Procompsognathus, he takes aim. Action roll GijU3zbw 3 + action roll 3 = 6!... Success!
Gary was quick and managed to throw the jacket over the surprised creature before it had to chance to jump away or possibly bite. Struggling with it through the thick fabric, he manages to hold onto it.
"Get one of those lock cupboards open!", he called out to Randy, who did so. Keeping steady through the Procompsognathus' thrashing, Gary managed to safely push it inside and lock the door behind it. The cupboard was meant for airy storage to let things dry out, so the airholes on the side and the barred from made for a good impromptu-cage.
"Well," Gary shrugged as he wiped some sweat from his forehead, "Looks like Hammond's getting a lot of pictures and reports on this species."
Bill, seeing what's going on and confident they can handle it, adjusts and tinkers with the radio. "Sorna Expedition Team 1 to Team 2, do you copy?". Skill roll 3 + Skill roll 6 + 1 Engineer role = 10!... Bonus success!
"This is Team 2, what's up Bill?", Dr. Harding's voice crackled through, still a touch staticy even with the trailer's radio booster.
"Dr. Harding, is there any chance any other groups could be on the island?"
"Hammond assured us no one else in InGen or EPA knew. Doubt it. Why?"
"Because I got evidence to suggest otherwise, that's why. Levine's book is missing pages, there's a gunshot in the trees without Levine having a firearm on him, and Levine's nowhere to be found. Could have been a leak but I got a bad hunch. Check and see if any boats have left the port recently, should be in the almanac."
There was a pause before Sarah's voice came back in over the radio.
"... You might have a problem."
By now, Randy and Gary had ventured over, drawn over by the conversation.
Bill took back the radio control, "What's the problem Harding?"
"Ship left a week ago, just after Levine did. Big one owned by a company InGen has a history with... Boys, you might not be alone on that island."
Bill's expression hardened as he remembered the gunshot in the tree Gary found and the torn pages, "And something tells me our jolly gray jackass Levine isn't either."
Almost as if on cue, there is a noise outside. A distant roar but not of a dinosaur. The trio look towards the source and open the door to try and seeing it. Something is on the move in the valley far below as the radio alters, picking up a frequency.
Bill, do you A. Try to see what it is on the left side of the valley from here? (action roll) B. Try to see if you can tweak the radio unit to easedrop on whatever the frequency is? (skill roll + 1)
Gary, do you A. Use your binoculars to see what is it on the left side of the valley? (skill roll+1) B. Use your binoculars to see what is it on the further right side of the valley? (skill roll+2)
Randy, do you A. Try to see what it is on the left side of the valley from here? (action roll) B. Try to see if you can tweak the radio unit to easedrop on whatever the frequency is? (skill roll)·

Umm Tarb, I was the one who saw the gunshot. I choose Option B. Dive, check the left side, and V try to the catch that frequency. I was meaning that Gary naturally would have pointed it out to the others, no reason to keep the info to himself on the trip back to the trailers. Clarified it.

(sorry for the delay folks, got yanked off PC mid-typing) Bill bit his tongue and fidgeted at the radio, working through the static to try and pinpoint the frequency through adjustments to range and power. Skill roll! UcwFpCg13 + Roll score 5 + 1 Engineer roll bonus = 9!...Success! As he worked, Randy looked east to try and pinpoint the sound to the east. He thought he could see something. Action roll! 3 + 4 = 7!... Partial success! Peering out, he caught some movement heading in the opposite direction. Tapping Gary on the shoulder, Randy pointed as muttered under his breath. "Look, behind the tree ferns. It's heading west, might pop out in a clearing." Following up, Gary nodded and pulled out his binoculars and adjusted their range as he scanned the west. There was something there alright. Action roll! 3 + 4 + 2 Equipment bonus = 9!... Success! Gary saw it just as the frequency came over Bill's radio. "BioSyn Scout Unit 1 to 2, do you copy?"A large jeep rolled out from between the trees going west, oblivious to the fact it had been spotted. "BioSyn Scout Unit 2 to Unit 1 and homebase, we copy. Asset contained. We'll need to check it with Levine but we think we have a Prince in Captive. Repeat, Prince in Captive."The jeep rolled along towards the game trail, a large clearing between the red woods several miles from the InGen team's base. A larger vehicle trucked along behind it, hauling a large crested dinosaur of some sort that seemed drugged and harshly bound in the cage of the truck bed. An astute tone chimed through the radio. "Dodgson here. Bravo Unit 2, that will earn you all a raise if you're accurate. Bring the asset to Levine's.. quarters."Unit 2's radio man chuckled "Right, the bird cage. Let's hope Tweaty tells us we bagged a big one."In the dimming light, the InGen team could see lights coming from the game trail. A base camp. 3/3 Objectives for chapter 1 complete!: Dr. Levine's whereabouts known. He's been taken hostage or is working, likely unwillingly, with "BioSyn"; whom has illegally trespassed on the island and is capturing dinosaurs. The BioSyn teams seems large, well armed, and equipped. They'd likely do a heap of trouble to you if they caught your team, but you have an advantage. They don't know they're not alone on this island. CHAPTER 1 COMPLETE! ··

Wow, we made it through the first chapter and no one died (knock on wood). Because we're smart! Though i fear next chapter may be a bit too big for three guys who are ill equipped to deal with a group of well armed mercs. Sure we have the element of surprise, but that's all we have going for us.
