(*drags himself into room and to PC, out of breath* Blackest...Friday... work... sales... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG-)
Outside, Gary tried to comlink to dial up the interior while trying to stay flush against the roof and quiet as possible. Something was there but he couldn't tell where or what it was.
"...Guys guys! There's something out here. I don't feel safe with my beautiful manly ass exposed out in the dark, can someone please turn on the night-light?"
Stealth roll!
MXBtLBJnp_3 + roll 2 + dialogue bonus 1 = 6!... Partial success! (Ooooouch)
"It seems we're not the only invasive species here, what with the frogger dinosaurs crawling around."
Bill and Randy, having gotten up from the table, thought it best to make use of the fact they had a veterinarian and the daughter of the only known dinosaur veterinarian on the phone. At risk of her having a... lively reaction at the species they'd taken.
"Sooo," Bill started after Randy cleared his throat and followed up, "Hey, Sarah. Know anything about helping a wounded
Rex? We managed to get ours to sleep, but we're not exactly vets here."
Levine thankfully proved useful as he followed up, "Going to give it to you straight Dr. Harding. We got a injured baby
Tyrannosaurus rex in the trailer with us, tranquilized and in need of a fixed leg. What do we need to do and can we do it in a way we can release it rather than keep it as the mascot?"
(Skill roll combo!)
p_p_3 + 4 + roll 4 + roll 6 + dialogue bonus 2 = 19!... Bonus success!
The radio buzzed in dumbstruck silence, "Oh my god...
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THAT IS?!"
Levine jumped back to avoid having his ears blown out, instead going to check the ringing comlink. Harding kept going for a good fifteen seconds before steaming off.
"Sorry, just... That is an
extremely big risk.
Tyrannosaurus rex had the greatest sense of smell of any animal alive save one and the parents, particularly the father, were very nurturing."
Bill picked up the mic, "So Papa Rex is going to come for the baby?"
Sarah corrected, "Papa Rex already is. It can probably still smell you so soon as we're done on the infant, you need to set it somewhere safe and hose down all the trailer with as strong of stuff as you can. Bleach, cleaners, alcohol, anything. Otherwise..."
Randy shrugged, "Papa Rex will still smell the traces inside and want to find out what's inside the trailer... Great... But, least that means we can mend up the infant and he'd take it back right? I thought parent birds won't touch their babies if humans get their scent on them."
"Old fake tale," Sarah corrected, "What is the injury?"
Bill glanced back at the X-ray, "Loooks liiike, hairline fracture across the right tibia with a gash across the muscle and flesh above it. Not too too bad. We got the leg bone set end to end again by holding it in some clamps as Puppy's resting."
"Good start gentlemen. Now comes step two. Can't use a cast on it, will be too stiff as the animal grows and will constrict the leg. Got cloth bandaging?"
"Affirmative," Randy noted as he pulled some out.
"Soak it in vinegar and then saltwater. 1 part salt, 4 parts vinegar, 15 parts water. This will stiffen the cloth just enough it'll hold and the bad taste will keep the little guy from chewing it off. The cloth will then fall away and or rot as it grows. As one of you gets that ready, you'll need to find something to hold the wound shut that won't stay behind like stitches."
Gary managing to dial up the inside, Dr. Levine picked it up.
"Gary?"
"Levine? I'm on the roof."
"Well get down then! We have a situation out here!"
"Yah and we might have one out here. Listen I need you to turn on all the exterior lights. Got it?"
Levine flustered, "Why I? Are you so daft as to try and give away out position?!"
"LISTEN LIVINE!", Gary growled under his breath, "Just flash them on and look out the window, then you can flick them off again if there's nothing and insult me all night. Got it?"
"... Fiine fiiiine," Levine grumbled as he did so. His face paled and his whisper over the comlink was shaking, "My god..."
Gary peaked between the railing and saw
them. Not one, not two, not even three. But at least
four creatures of variable sizes belonging to the same species. They resembled the
Tyrannosaurus but with a much shorter snout and even tinier arms, sporting broad horns above a narrow face. The largest, roughly the size of a large rhino and missing a horn, was less than ten feet from the trailer and looked like it was trying to see if it could reach the roof when the light forced it back, with the smallest circling around the trailers a dozen yards away and was man sized. They were clad in dark greens and gray hues to match the foliage before turning paler as they slunk back.
Now matching the light, they started to circle the trailers again, searching and sniffing at the ground.
Gary, do you
A. Stay on the roof and chance that they can't reach you? (stealth roll)
B. Try to get down to the door or window and get back inside? (action roll)
Randy, do you
A. Keep tending to the baby
T.rex and find a way to seal the wound? (pick superglue, staples, or liquid bandage) (skill roll)
B. Try to pass Gary your ghillie suit so he has a lesser chance of being spotted? (action roll)
Bill, do you
A. Keep tending to the baby T.rex and find a way to seal the wound? (pick superglue, staples, or liquid bandage) (skill roll)
B. Use your assault rifle and try to shoot one of the
Carnotaurus to kill or wound it? (action roll)
*If Randy and Bill both pick A the result will be a double roll.
