I vote diplomacy and stealth if that fails.

Alrighty then... After all, Net Neutrality's fat hunters still need to jump and squeeze through many tiny hoops, so we've still got some time.

Everyone set up and got into their places, having agreed that power meant people and that was a better idea to chance their odds with people then the dinosaurs. Hiding away in a secluded spot, Bill pulled out the portable shortwave radio as Randy and Gary got into position. Randy walked the perimeter of the fence and hid himself behind shrubs with his ghillie suit just in case there is any dinosaurs on the prowl during the wait. Gary meanwhile scaled of the nearby tree and pulled up his binoculars to keep a watch both around Randy and on the compound.
Bill took in a deep breath and turned on the radio to a nearby hailing frequency.
"This is InGen-EPA survey team 01, requesting contact with InGen Embryonic Compound; over."
Nothing, at least nothing on the radio. Through his binoculars Gary could see a shift in the lights indicating that someone or something was walking around inside and reacting to the radio. They were being heard.
"Try again," Garry whispered.
Bill bit his lip, hoping maybe a sign of good faith would help out.
"This is InGen-EPA survey team 01, requesting contact with InGen Embryonic Compound. The mission has suffered catastrophe and there is a very high risk of casualties. There currently is a extremely large predator moving about in the jungle and we need to call for rescue. We're requesting entry to the compound to gain safety for the extraction helicopter to arrive. As a sign of good faith and indicate we're not armed, we are sending one of our men to stand before your gate. Over."
The radio clicked off and Gary signaled Randy with a slight gleam from his binoculars. Randy, seeing the signal, bit his lip and stood up and got right out in the open; standing before the humming electrified gate to the compound.
After several tense moments, the radio came back on.
"... This is InGen Embryonic Compound, entry granted. Come in, over."
The gate started to open, just as the distant echoes of the Spinosaurus roar called out from the jungle. Randy stammered forwards to safety and waved to his compatriots to quickly join him in case it was approaching.
Randy, do you A. Stay where you are in the open area in the center of the compound? B. Scope the place out some (stealth roll)
Bill, do you A. Approach the compound and try to keep the unknown person on the radio? (skill roll + role bonus) B. Approach the compound and try to quickly hail the mainland team and inquire about the compound and whom might be there? (skill roll + roll bonus)
Gary, do you A. Approach the compound with Bill for safety? B. Try to sneak around and remain out of sight just to investigate further? (stealth roll)

Dive, stay where you are.
V, choose whichever you feel is best. And could you also post a description of your character in the OOC Chat Thread? Tarb said that he might get a commission!
I choose A.
Gary: Well lo and behold, the gates of heaven has chosen to open for us poor souls. Come on Bill, Randy's waiting for us.

"Well lo and behold, the gates of heaven has chosen to open for us poor souls," Gary noted as he patted Bill upon the back, "Come on Bill, Randy's waiting for us." (+2 to Bills rolls)
Bill fiddled with the radio as they approach, trying to keep the person on the other end talking just in case they needed a distraction or to find out more from they were.
"You still there, Mr. Robotnik?"
Skill roll! xSkAV9ULp_ 3 + roll 4 + role bonus 1 + dialogue bonus 1 + Gary's bonus 2 = 11!... Success!
"Quaint, but I am present. You are the first InGen personnel I've seen in years on this island. Must have had quiet the journey."
"Quite, can that gate hold out tall, gray, and toothy?", Bill noted as he eyed the fence and gate.
"Rest assured the Prototype is conditioned to stop at the sense of electric shock, it will not approach even if it could ram through the fence."
"Prototype?", Dr. Levine muttered under his breath as they approached where Randy was and started inside.
"Wouldn't recommend prodding too much," Randy noted, "Let's not give these guys any reason to want us about ten pounds heavier and more lead based."
"They'll be none of that, rest assured," the voice chimed through the radio as the gate closed and locked behind them.
The four now stood in the courtyard of the compound, surrounded by electrified fences. The only question was, was this their fortress or their prison? The doors and several windows to the second floor of the embryonic's building, just above a forest holding pen, closed down with reinforced shutters. The rest of the compound was fairly rundown, an old gas station store, a utilities house with a busted roof, a mainstreet littered with cracked pavement and invading plants, and an old communications building that was basically a refitted apartment complex. Aside from the main embryonics building and holding pen, the rest of the compound had been left to rot.
The voice now came out of the loud speakers on the holding pen's roof.
"Tis miraculous you made it here, was expecting some of the more trained hunters and mercenaries to be here first. This island has a way of testing how fit and dangerous something is. It's something missing from much of the modern world with societies. Thrill of it and will to dominate is probably why BioSyn got so many to sign up for this death run."
Randy, do you A. Check out one of the structures (pick the gas station, communications building, or utilities house) to hide or scavenge? B. Stay in the open to avoid suspicion?
Gary, do you A. Check out one of the structures (pick the gas station, communications building, or utilities house) to hide or scavenge? B. Stay in the open to avoid suspicion?
Bill, do you A. Check out one of the structures (pick the gas station, communications building, or utilities house) to hide or scavenge? B. Ask who your host is? (skill role + role bonus)

I choose A to scavenge the communications building. And I can't help but get the feeling that this guy has known about us since Chapter 2, maybe even from the start...
Gary: Bill, I have another gut feeling that Dr. Robotnik knows more about us than they let on, ask who the hell are they while I see if there's anything of use in the Coms Building.
V, ask who are they.
Dive, might want to stay in the open but if you feel like also scavenging then I want you to cover the utilities house.
EDIT: Ohh and Tarb, how goes getting that commission for us now that we've described our characters? Additional EDIT: Why doesn't the roll also include V's base skill stat? Third EDIT: Gary's response to Bill's dialogue would be optimistic about the prequels while providing a logical counterargument and laughing off the idea of Disney buying Star Wars with something along the lines of It Will Never Catch On. I would write it myself but I don't know exactly what to write at the moment.

A good choice, Option B is.
Bill: "So who art thou, Mr. Conductor of Isla Sorna? If you say 'Meesa have many namens, and would liken yousa to choose una or fie', then so help me and create a bad batch of Star Wars movies with a two-year break in between entries and make it an absolute pigsty until it gets bought by Disney's Princesses, Princes and generic animal sidekicks and becomes a generic blockbuster series... Say, would any of you like to call the big, grey and red prototype Supreme Leader Snoke?"

Gary tapped Bill on the shoulder and whispered to him, "Bill, I have another gut feeling that Dr. Robotnik knows more about us than they let on, ask who the hell are they while I see if there's anything of use in the Coms Building."
"I shall assist," Dr. Levine noted as he followed along, "You two remain here and keep his attention. I was a gambling man in my youth and I know when someone has a card the sleeve."
Heading over to the communications building, Gary and Levine opened the creaking door and stepped inside. The light was low, only flickering on and off in a few areas to indicate there was any power at all.
"Isla Sorna is all run on geothermal power," Levine noted, "InGen contingency plan to keep everything operating should they have to evacuate the islands."
Gary used his binocular's to look around the darker areas, "So they could come back and get back to work like the guy in the Embryonics building?"
"Assuming he's with InGen..." Levine dryly noted.
Thanks to Levine's assistance, Gary was able to cover more ground and look around more effectively than if he was alone. The radio equipment they needed to call in to rescue seem to still be working, it just needed more power to get a good signal out as otherwise it was just running on fumes. It seemed the Enbryonic's building and holding pen was drawing up most of the compound's power.
Gary groaned, "Damn, looks like we need to ask Robotnik to stop hogging all the juice to get a call out, need to activate the dish to hook Bill's radio to this."
Levine opted to ignore the Sega reference, "So it seems, but how good are you a bargaining with a host we don't know?"
A chirping piped up from near Levine and got both of their attention. Nearly startled at first, both of them whipped around the face it. It was coming from one of the darker corners nearest stairwell that had a cracked door that led outside. Something was scratching at the door. Knowing it couldn't have been anything large, Levine nudged the door aside and was assailed by a familiar blotch of green.
Gary reeled back in surprise at the little creature scampered inside past him and hid in one of the cupboards. Gary nudged the door to the emergency cupboard open and alongside some rope, firecrackers, and emergency smoke bombs, he found a familiar face.
"Crowly?!"
The Compy in question, marked by a scrap along his side that would surely scar from when Dieter's bullet grazed him, was huddled in the corner shivering is trying to stay absolutely quiet. Something terrified him.
Bill turned to Randy, "Try to look inconspicuous."
"With those two buggering off, we need to. Get on the com."
Bill nodded and dialed up the line on the radio and hope to speaking skills were good enough to diffuse any tension,
"So who art thou, Mr.
Skill roll! D8Q2CUBAp_ 3 + roll 5 + Randy boost 2 + role bonus 2 + dialogue bonus 2 = 15!... Bonus success!
Either compelled by passionate words, or, judging from the groan he could hear over the communications link, the host actually decided to reply.
"My name is Dr. Norman Atherton. And the prototype has a name, it's a recombination Suchomimus with infused genome from Spinosaurus and other samples we lack the complete specimen of. It's what we call an accident."
Randy perked up in minor surprise and nudged Bill, "Atherton was known in the biology sphere a short time ago, rumors was clone some sort of dwarf elephant to show off to some investor before being bought up."
"Meaning?"
"He was the mentor to Dr. Wu, guy who worked on InGen's dinosaurs, officially at least. He died of heart problems ten years ago."
Bill clicked off the communications link, "And yet he's chattering with us now and not falling for my witty humor. But something tells me there's more to this."
"Should be," Randy muttered, "Doesn't add up. If Hammond wanted the best in the fields, why would he settle for the student he could have the mentor, or both?"
Bill pursed his lips and contemplated it, and the more he did the more you didn't like it. It was fishier than a New Jersey shore market.
"EPA always keeps an eye on corporations and is one thing I remember from that.."
"What?"
"If there is an asset somebody wants, the competition will do everything in their power to get it for themselves. I doubt this guy is dead or with InGen. Old man already but still a genius? Easiest way to keep others grubby paws off him is to-"
Randy picked up the pieces left him, "-fake a death. Heart problems are common, easy to forge, expected. And if he knew what Wu was up to, he'd know of Sorna."
Bill furrowed his brow, "Either were going a more epileptic aluminum Christmas trees than Star Wars fans, or we just figured out how BioSyn knew so much about the island."
"If I may interrupt you gentlemen," Atherton's voice chimed out over the speakers.
"I have work to finish. You see, the mistake was such because of two fronts. In trying to forge a weapon my compatriots and I obviously thought that size was the best factor. Thus we mixed multiple large carnivores, past and present, into what you witnessed earlier. But it was, while extremely powerful and aggressive, an animal. If given the territory, it would do nothing else other than hunt and attempt to find a mate. A suitable guard dog for this facility, but not what Lord Darren Penward requested. He wanted a killing machine as a proof of concept to the company. Something that hunted when it wasn't hungry. The alpha build were too small, but decent. The beta is nearly finished, just in need of waking in a few minutes. But as for a bit of a showroom demonstration...."
Crowly whimpered more as the doors to one of the holding pens opened slowly.
"The original."
A dark colored creature shot out of the holding pens so fast it could barely even be seen, ignoring the humans and scampering off towards the gas station. From the brief glimpses they could see of it it was roughly man sized, bipedal, with a very long tail, and as it passed the two something fell off it they came to a stop near Randy's foot. He bent down and retrieved it.
".. A feather?"
Atherton's voice called out again over the speakers, "A formidable predator to be sure, but just an animal. Like the mistake, stubborn instincts kept it from being as cruel as a human could be. I would recommend finding it but is no more dangerous than a normal leopard or tiger. My improved version however..."
A larger, more reinforced gate opened and a new creature stepped out into the open. Rather than instinctively rushing for cover like it's natural counterpart, the modified dinosaur visibly inspected what lay before it before narrowing it's eyes. It clicked it's talons upon the ground before stalking towards Bill and Randy with a near manic expression, taking its time.
Randy do you, A. Try to identify the dinosaur and it's modified counterpart? (skill roll + role bonus) B. Light one of your flares and hold it out before you to blind it's vision of you and Bill? (skill roll)
Bill do you, A. Light one of your flares and hold it out before you to blind it's vision of you and Randy? (skill roll) B. Light and throw one of your flares at it to try and get the creature back off? (skill roll)
Gary, do you A. Swap any of your equipment for what you found in the building? B. Brace the backdoor and yell for the others to run to the building for cover? (action roll)

V, throw the flare to blind it.
I choose B.

"Lord Darren Penward, Lord Darren Penward, Lord Darren Penward..." Gary steamed. "Friend of your's?" Levine muttered with a raised eyebrow. Gary just stomped, "Ahh! Of course, that delusional sociopath would be involved in creating a "Perfect Killing Machine," he never did have a genuine appreciation for what nature truly was, only what he wanted to see. Bill, Randy! Get in the f**king building now!" Gary roared as he went to the backdoor and ripped it shut. "Levine, get the rope and firecrackers ready and help me brace this!" Action roll! |WtZ1GxLp_3 + roll 2 + dialogue bonus 2 = 7!... Success! "On it! I'm not fond of being clawed to death either!" Levine yelped as he helped Gary pull down a large metal shelf against the door, rapidly helping shove and brace multiple odd items like empty propane tanks, a table, and a few chairs against the door frame. With the back door sealed, all that remained was the front door. Bill and Randy rapidly backpedaled as the creature stalked forward. "Oh good, we get to run around like Doctor Who while some ground-hawk chases us around!", Bill shouted as he drew up a flare to use it as an improvised flash bang. The scaly creature shrieked and started to charge forward. "Fire in the hole!", he roared as he pitched it at the beast. Skill roll! p_3 + roll 2 + dialogue bonus 1 = 6!... Partial success! While the creature did not stop entirely, it did briefly pause and lurch back away from the bright light, even as it skillfully dodged the flare and swung around in a wide arc to try and circle them. "Randy what the hell is this thing?!" Randy shielded his eyes and the bright light and try to get a look at it as the modified creature jumped about any series of wide bounds to get behind cover and get closer. "Great! Just what we needed on an island full of things trying to kill us! Some nut making something even scarier to try and kill us!" He strained and look for any distinguishable trait, something made harder with the knowledge of this was a modified creature and might not have one you would think it would. Skill roll! p_4 + roll 3 + dialogue bonus 1 + role bonus 2 = 9!... Success (but oh so barely, no dialogue and you'd have failed) But through the glint of the light when he jumped on top of a derelict truck, he caught a glimpse of something on the foot. A large, recurved claw held far off the ground. The boxy head, large forelimbs, huge leg muscles, and the fact that natural variant had feathers, that was indicative of one famous creature InGen no doubt would have on their list. " Deinonychus!"
"Carnivore?", Bill roared as he kicked the flare towards the truck to try and force it back. "What do you think?!", Randy yelped as he grabbed Bill by the shoulders and charged back, "Leg it!" "Keen mind Dr. Archer," Atherton's voice chimed over the speakers, "Wu's last creation was an attempt to make a park compatible, pure variant after the initial, impure strains proved hostile. Originally forged with Carnosauria genes, the first raptors imported to Isla Nublar were stricken with conflicting instincts that, when combined with high intelligence, resulted in mania and sociopathy. Penward however saw opportunity, so I reversed my student's "corrections", adding to the robustness, keening the savagery. This creature is a Deinonychus now principally in genome alone, admixtured with Allosaurus, nile crocodile, and the barest 0.01% mixed hint of Homo sapien. From Lord Penward himself no less. It's larger, stronger, and as a bonus, sees mammals as ideal prey. The perfect alpha build for security, military, or hunting challenge." And catch onto the scent of mammal, ideal prey, it did. Penward and Atherton's monster shrieked and broke into a sprint after leaping off the truck; rapidly gaining on them. They were quick, it was quicker, and without a good pause to set it back from the flare throw, it overtook them. Randy cried out as he was knocked to the ground from tackling him from behind, his backpack being the only thing that saved him from getting his head bitten into by snapping jaws and ripping talons. But the reinforced, military grade fabric was ripped to shreds, spilling out some of the contents. "COVER YOUR EARS!", Levine cried out as he hurled something after striking the percussion fuse on the wall. Just as the altered Deinonychus was about to impale Randy with its talons, a band of red stick flew close to it and started exploding. The firecrackers, meant to act as an emergency signal were plenty loud, briefly disorienting and stunning the dinosaur; which reeled back and surprise at the sudden racket and gave Randy time to stagger up without being disemboweled. But it did come at a cost, his medical kit dropped out of his bag and he still suffered a gash to his side. Randy is now suffering bleed damage (-1 to action rolls requiring heavy motion, bleeding a trail, and pain has a 30% chance to defocus his concentration and -1 to skill rolls if that happens) and dropped his medical kit. He can pick up or be given a new item. The kit can be either retrieved or replacement be scavenged for
The Deinonychus wasn't distracted for long, soon after the pair managed to get inside with Gary and Levine, it was back on the hunt and driven into a frenzy. It charged the door head on, shrieking on the other side. In the mayhem, Crowly chirped and darted out of his hiding place, heading for the stairwell. Either looking for another place to hide or possibly, another exit not blocked or about to be rammed. Gary, do you A. Try to shoot the creature through the door with a tranquilizer round? (action roll) B. Brace your body against the door to keep it from being rammed down? (action roll, multiples doing this adds to success rate) C. Follow that compy and leg it up the stairwell to get some distance? (action roll) Randy, do you A. Pick up a replacement item (smoke bomb, rope), can use if desired (skill roll if so) B. Brace your body against the door to keep it from being rammed down? (action roll, multiples doing this adds to success rate) C. Follow that compy and leg it up the stairwell to get some distance? (action roll) Bill, do you A. Rip open the electrical panel near the doorway and put the wires to the rim and try to electrify its frame and door handle? (skill roll + role bonus) B. Brace your body against the door to keep it from being rammed down? (action roll, multiples doing this adds to success rate) C. Follow that compy and leg it up the stairwell to get some distance? (action roll) ··

Well Dive, looks like my judgement just saved your life.
Hmm I choose B, and have Levine help me with bracing the door.
Dive, might want to pick up the rope and smoke bombs, replacing the flares and medkit since the former is of low amount and V can compensate while you're in no position to pick up the latter.
V, electricfy the door.
Gary: It's always the same with these egomaniacal environmental villains who try to control nature. Forge a biological weapon for military purposes or create monstrosities to usurp humanity. For profit, power, or a twisted belief in Survival of The Fittest. They really need to diversify their interests, eh Randy?
